Recently, I got to thinking…what is it, that truly makes me happy? You can say that listening to Beyonce’s newest masterpiece had me connecting to my inner Goddess more than usual. I realized that the only thing holding me back was myself! My mental thoughts had me captured…a prisoner – slave to my own mind!

I am a naturally emotional creature! I explore and experience my way through life, riding the many waves of emotions! It’s almost empathic to the point of how intense I can feel! And during the past 3 years, my emotions have been going bonkers! However, I did get to meet some truly amazing creatures…

Women who genuinely wanted to raise a sister up and praise her into self-value! This quest hasn’t always been easy, but it never was boring! My last experience with a woman a considered to be a “Woman of Power,” shook me alive in wake of her wrath – giving birth to me, empowering girls and women…to unleash their inner Goddess.

It requires a change of self and lifestyle, but it can be done!

I was always taught to harness my passions and hone my craft – for me this would be photography, writing, graphics, public relations…all the things that drives me beyond pleasure – like natural beauty, spas and travel, fashion…and use it to encourage positivity!

But, I can’t do it alone…in fact, I am partnering with beauty, travel, fashion and lifeSTYLE brands – to help me to empower  girls or women past their frustration and pain! Recently, I was on LUSH Cosmetics website and I took their Emotional Brilliance test. I picked Drive, Confidence and Passionate! Suddenly, it all made sense!

I introduce to you…The Goddess Project – Shades of Beauty(ful)…
The goal of this project, is to help foster and influence growth in girls and women affected by abuse, assault, emotional trauma, bullying, etc – to move forward towards enrichment and self-sufficiency in their lives.
Shades of Beauty(ful) aims to educate, encourage and empower participants past their current situation, and equip them with the necessary skills, so they can start focusing on solutions rather than dwelling on the problem(s) at hand. By providing a safe haven and outlet, Shades of Beauty(ful) will minister and pamper participants – through workshops, events/spa parties, travel & shopping therapy – in the important areas of (self-love, self- esteem, teen dating), parenting, emotional health (domestic violence), career/college readiness, dressing for success, healthy lifestyle (fitness, health and well-being), finance and legal services/resources. The idea is to harness the power (of the female) to unite and rise above the frustration of hurt and pain through an open platform, rooted in creativity (poetry, dance, story, journaling, song, etc) and rise above the silence of injustice.

Moving forward, is the focus of 2014! Everything that I’ve set out to do, will begin to bear fruit, as life has already been spoken into it!

I am driven to create an empowering movement – reaching those who feel less than whom God intends them to be…- Sapphire Kharyzma

13.7% of youth females in Delaware, ages 14-18 have been physically forced to have sexual intercourse when they didn’t want to (rape). 12.7% of youth females in Delaware admit to having been slapped, physically hurt by their boyfriend/girlfriend during the past 12 months. 16.5% of these same young females have been bullied on school property, 38.4% DE youth females have felt sad or hopeless almost everyday for two weeks or more in a row that stopped them from doing some usual activities and 19.6% have seriously considered attempting suicide.
- YRBS 2011 Youth Risk Behavior Survey
In 2010, there were 549 women and children sheltered statewide (282 women &267 children). In New Castle County, 327 individuals were provided shelter in 2010 (174 women and 163 children)
– DVCC Annual and Fatal Incident Review Team Report 2011.
A coalition of this nature, doesn’t exist in Delaware. Girls and women are left without a platform to release their stress and frustration, often times – finding themselves alone, without a place to turn too. Shades of Beauty(ful) will provide a comfortable and relaxed setting (lounge), while equipping participants with the invaluable tools needed to survive and be self-sufficient and confident. There are times when girls/women feel unappreciated, unnoticed and even invisible. But S.O.B aims to give women back their voices and self-purpose. As an elite sisterhood of empowerment – that nurtures, embraces, and support for their fellow sisters.

I am confident, that I will succeed at anything I put my mind, body and soul too! I know I am more than capable and qualified to live my life – in total control, the way I want to!

The passionate essence contained within me drives my confidence, making me invincible against my fears…making success inevitable!

With this mindset/approach to my beauty routine, makes getting ready a little more creative. I am more in tune with my mood, so I can create a look that either portrays or compliments that mood. I figured, coupled with daily affirmations…a gal can really pep up her day…beautifully!
